Oscar left, myself right, overseeing events at state champs 2011 |
At fourteen years of age, I am hardly the person you should be turning to if you have Olympic aspirations, but through my experience out on the water in various boat types, with some great coaches, I believe that some of the advice that my coaches gave me, can help you improve your rowing as well.
Who are these coaches? And why plural? I started rowing at my school boatshed, here we change coaches every season. I have been fortunate to have been in the company of previous national champions, Olympians, and Australian representatives at the world championships.
Now I row for both school and club, I row in single sculls, double sculls, quad sculls, and eights. From all these boats I have learnt much about the most efficient ways to move a boat. I row on a very regular basis and am always looking for the best way to improve my performance, so watch this space.
