Double Sculls

Stroke: O. Fawkes, Bow: Me
3rd 2011 NSW Rowing Championships
Championship Mens Under 16 Double Scull

The double scull is faster and more balanced than a single, yet provides much greater
responsiveness than the quad, making it a great boat to train and race in.

Qualities of a double scull (2x):
  • It is a scull boat
  • It has two people

Advantages:
  • Unlike the big boats, less people to rely on
  • No coxswain (less weight)
  • Much harder to capsize than a single
  • Faster than a single
Disadvantages:
  • Slower than the big boats
  • No coxswain (hard to steer)

First Post, Second Blog

This is my second blog, and is about rowing, however if this isn't what gets you up in the morning at ridiculous hours just so you can move backwards through the water, then please see my other blog;
www.bsaoll.blogspot.com
At the moment it is solely around boot shining, but will soon encompass more interesting aspects of my life. Even if you don't really want to learn what I learnt the hard way, just go see it anyway.

It will be a little while before I am able to upload good photos and videos of me rowing , so hang in there.
